The problem with glasses  Boy, I just can't stop looking at how fascinating and beautiful the feathers of modern dinosaur paleoart look. Applaud fella (Reactions)  They look so accurate in different ways that I sometimes don't know which one is the best. In search for answers

There is something beautifully surreal about this piece. I can't put my finger on it, but I love it!

I get upset sometimes when a dinosaur had "mimus" in it's name. Example: Ornithomimus"Ostrich mimic", but this non-avian didn't mimic an ostrich, an ostrich mimicked it. Anyways, nice!

Beautiful work! It looks very much like it was painted traditionally, the textures are awesome. Do you come up with the animal's color/pattern design yourself or do you base them off of other recreations of the dinosaur?

Absolutely stunning. I love how you made it look so realistic and birdlike, it's almost like you can find one like this roaming around in the Australian outback or somewhere :D
(I did say almost, unfortunately dinosaurs are long gone T^T)

You completely missed your own point. This theropod looks so much like a bird because birds are theropods. Dinosaurs are still very much alive, the birds just happen to be the only ones left.

I know. I happen to be a Darwinism fanatic. I was merely commenting on how accurate it looks; not like the phony tail-dragging scale covered ones that people seem to cling to. c:

"Avimimus" literally means "bird mimic" in Latin. Although, of course, let's not forget that birds ARE direct descendants of dinosaurs - in fact, taxonomy-wise, they ARE dinosaurs.

Just smaller, and not as kickass. Ostriches, emus, and cassowarys, are the only ones that still look like dinosaurs

I'd argue if not as kickass ;) But yeah, not many resemble the dinos today, although they still share many characteristics with one another and it's kinda surreal to think that each time we're eating chicken, we're technically eating dinosaurs, lol.

I love the texture of this. Reminds me of some of the older paintings found in books, particularly those by Giovanni Caselli from 'the evolution and ecology of the dinosaurs'.
